Africa

Okay... so the writing part will have to come later. So much to share. I will say this... I'm looking forward to NOT waking up at 3 AM in the morning. Will be heading out for a run at the YMCA in 15 minutes. Know I'll be too tired for that tonight.

I've downloaded a bunch of shots on Facebook. I've put comments on this pictures, so you can have a preview of the writing part there. Looking forward to Natalie mailing me the rest of the photos. We downloaded everyone's pictures on an external hard drive. I deleted most of mine off my memory card to make sure I had enough space for the safari, but kept a few so I could share some right away.

"I'm going to Africa! I'm going to Africa! I'm going to Africa!" That's the little ditty that is playing in my head over and over again this morning. The excitement is beginning to set in. It's been to surreal this whole time.

Ms. Ella

I'm working on my neighborhood's story. Recently sent out a "to be continued" version which folks have loved! I worked today on transcribing an interview with Ms. Ella Trammel, a senior in my neighborhood. Here's a quote from that interview that I LOVED.

"You were poor, but you didn't know how poor, but in a way you were very well off b/c nobody went hungry. I mean even though you might not have had steak and roast, you had food to eat. And you shared it with each other. The neighbors and the family took care of the sick and children and everybody who needed taking care of. This week has been crazy filled with rushing back to Atlanta from Nashville, so that I could take my turn to watch the carter kids while my pastor and his wife were in Switzerland. After giving up the kids to Allison on Tuesday I spent my evenings helping to surprise the Carter's with a new office and redecorated kitchen. My week ended with a perfect Saturday. Carrie and I woke up and worked out at the YMCA... and then we joined Kara & Edwin Haygood for lunch and a trip to the botanical gardens. Here's one little picture from the day. my church

We had a new couple come to church on Sunday and Bible study on Thursday. I gave her a couple of numbers late last night to make sure she could get to directions to our ladies' brunch this Saturday.  She facebook befriended me this morning and as I was looking over her page I saw this entry - "Getting ready to go to bible study at EPC I've never went somewhere and felt the welcome I felt there!" I LOVE my church!!! It really is one of the friendliest!

Odds and Ends

I always know when there's a Braves home game. It is the only time when there's a major back up to get off the interstate at my exit and when it's a bear to get through the intersection into my neighborhood.

My secret garden. 2 Saturdays in a row. I love this place.

Beautiful flowers in my favorite park. Wish I had my macro lens, but I think the super-macro setting on my water camera did fairly well.

Just realized that I never blogged about my birthday. Had a little theory that maybe if I didn't celebrate it I wouldn't turn 30. My sweet church family wouldn't let that happen though and invited some of my South Atlanta friends to surprise me at our favorite Mexican place - Matadors. They filled the side bar room.

Just wanted to wish Jeremy a Happy FIRST Father's Day - and two times the father too!!!

I guess technically he was a father this time last year, as Abe already was born but he just didn't know it. :)
